A sunset cruise in St. Pete can belong to your group alone. Well Played charters a whole yacht for the evening, with a licensed captain, crew and fuel included. This is a private yacht rental and charter, not a seat on a shared boat and not a scheduled public sunset sail. Your group, your captain, your evening.

A private sunset cruise, not a shared boat

Many sunset boats carry strangers on a fixed route and a fixed time. Ours is the reverse. You choose the yacht, the guest list and the mood, and the boat stays with your group from the first step aboard to the last. It suits proposals, anniversaries, birthdays, visiting family and any evening that deserves to be unhurried.

Timing by season

Sunset moves a good deal through the year and tends to arrive much earlier in winter than in summer. We do not set a fixed departure; we agree the start time with you so that you are on the water and at anchor before the light turns. The office confirms your meeting point before the day and watches the weather on the day.

Where the sun goes down

Where you watch from changes the evening:

  • The Gulf off St. Pete Beach, where the sun drops into open water. See our St. Pete Beach boat rental page.
  • The Gulf off Clearwater Beach, which many guests choose when they are staying there. See boat trips from Clearwater Beach.
  • Tampa Bay off downtown St. Petersburg, where the skyline and waterfront glow as the light fades and the water tends to be calmer.

The captain decides where the boat anchors, based on wind, tide and traffic, and chooses the spot with the best view that conditions allow. No two evenings are identical, which is much of the charm.

Adding a chef or drinks

You are welcome to bring your own drinks, and we can arrange a chef or provisions if you would like more. If you would like dinner afloat, a private chef or catering can join the evening; the office quotes chef and catering separately, so you see the cost before you decide. Our private dinner cruise page explains how it works. If the evening is part of a larger gathering, see events.

Choosing your yacht

Each yacht's page shows how many guests she takes. Tell us your group size and we suggest the right boat, and every price includes captain, crew and fuel.

What the evening feels like

Expect an easy rhythm: board, settle in, drift toward the best light, and stay at anchor while the sky changes color. There is no commentary and no crowd. Your crew looks after the details so that you and your guests can simply be there, and the captain brings you back in comfort once the light has gone.

Hold your evening

Send us the date you have in mind and the number of guests, and we reply with a yacht and a quote. Send an enquiry to hold your sunset.

Life, Well Played.

Your people. Your day.

The yacht is private to your group, the captain and crew run the day, and the office arranges the rest.
