The northern end of Pinellas County has a character of its own: sponge boats and Greek restaurants, quiet barrier islands and a small-town marina. A private boat rental in Tarpon Springs suits groups who would like something different from the beach, with a licensed captain, crew and fuel included, on a yacht that is private to your group only.

Is a boat rental in Tarpon Springs right for your day

Tarpon Springs lies a long way up the coast from our home ports. The office confirms whether it fits your day and which boat suits it. Dunedin and the barrier islands are nearer, and the office will say plainly what is practical for your date.

The sponge docks

Tarpon Springs has been a sponge-diving town for more than a century, settled by Greek families who worked the Gulf for sponges. The sponge docks on the Anclote River are still lined with working boats, shops and tavernas. From the water you see the harbor as the town sees itself, with old wooden boats at the quay. The sponge docks are best seen from the water on a charter; a visit ashore is a separate part of your day.

The Anclote River and Anclote Key

The Anclote River runs out to the Gulf, and just offshore lies Anclote Key, a preserve with a lighthouse and a long sandy shore. The captain decides where the boat anchors, and the choice depends on the wind and the water level, so we never promise a landing. It is a place people go for peace, and the boat rental gives you the view without the crowd.

Caladesi and Honeymoon Island

Further south, Caladesi Island and Honeymoon Island are the two state parks that guests most often name. Caladesi is the more natural of the pair, and Honeymoon Island is known for its long beach and its birds. Whether you go ashore is the captain's call, based on conditions and the parks' rules. For the stretch beyond, see our Clearwater Beach yacht rental page.

Dunedin's marina town

Dunedin is a small waterfront town with a marina, a main street of cafes and shops, and an easy, walkable feel. It sits close to the island parks and is pleasant to see from the water.

Food and drinks

Chef and catering, if you want them, are arranged by the office and quoted separately. Menu styles are examples to discuss.
